A part of the charm and enchantment surrounding women of the silver screen is indeed their attire. From Audrey Hepburn’s black Givenchy evening gown in Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Marilyn Monroe’s sultry pink number in Some Like Hot, women of the screen wow us with their marvellous floor length gowns. So when we enter the magical world of Disney and observe the famous princesses in their beautiful frocks the awe and wonder reaches new lengths.

Although information on the original designers is scarce we are still bewitched by their work. Starting with Cinderella in her powder blue dress going through to Ariel in her shell bra and pastel hued tail. The Disney princesses’ fashions and attire have always been a focal attraction to the world of Disney.

Ariel is the Disney Princess with the most licensed, themed merchandise.

In the original Little Mermaid concept art from the 1940s, Ariel had black hair and a blue tail.

Ariel has sung more songs than any other Disney character.

Belle is the only Disney Princess to have her film nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award.

Belle’s dress was inspired by a real life European princess.

Belle is the only Disney Princess to not sing her film’s theme song on screen.

Cinderella’s actual shoe size is mentioned in her sequel films – it’s 4½.

Cinderella’s birth name was not “Cinderella” until the Disney film.
